My name is Coen Dijkstra,
I'm a 1986 born Dutch reportage photographer, based in Amsterdam.
My work relies on two quotes that inspire me:
"As a society we need to know where we want to go to." - Thomas Piketty
"Local initiatives could inspire others when they get more broadly known." - Naomi Klein
To me, to photograph means giving shape to these ideas.
Reportage photography is creating an image of a subject or theme by multiple pictures. It could be a story, it could be like an essay as well. Notably, reportages result in a serie of photos that convey a versatile message in its full array.
I like to show the micro worlds where new, alternative things happen, that could benifit all of us, if we would know them better.
